One of those...

It was a rough morning. Oy.

5:30 a.m.: after many minutes hearing sounds of faint whimpering, finally get myself out of bed to lull evan back to sleep

6:59: start the day; feed evan his morning bottle

7:15: maddy's first meltdown

7:20: run last night's dishes in dishwasher

7:30: watch news

7:58: check e-mail

8:30: make maddy's breakfast--blueberry pop-tart {organic, whole-wheat; yeah, still not healthiest :)}

8:42: make to-do list

9:00: put evan down for morning nap

9:32: finally going to tackle the rest of the kitchen's mess

9:35: maddy is bored

9:36: print off worksheets for her to do/color

9:37: back to cleaning

9:38: print off second worksheet

9:39: back to cleaning

9:45: print off third worksheet

9:53: maddy's second meltdown; timeout for maddy, timeout for mommy

9:57: hear evan crying

9:59: pray hard

10:02: husband calls me and informs me he will have to work a double today...i get upset and want to cry...he is very understanding

10:11: feed evan blueberries...lots of blueberries and toast

10:25: remember i haven't eaten breakfast and decide i'm hungry too

10:26: maddy demanding toast...no actually, another pop-tart

10:30: serve maddy pop-tart...whoops, i forgot to cut it into bites...sends her into third meltdown...but who's keeping track, right? :)

10:36: make toast for myself and trying to make eggs...drop egg and shell all over kitchen tile...maddy demands juice...evan demanding yes, more blueberries

10:50: eat eggs and toast and blueberries

11:02: change evan's blueberry-filled diaper

11:30: decide after another attempt to clean the kitchen that it's time for an outing! get everyone dressed, hair brushed, bag ready, and out the door (after a timeout of course)

12:03: head to target...watch maddy run in front of me across the street...have a serious talk with her about the dangers of cars and obeying mommy...peruse the store...take maddy on a potty break... maddy runs off and ignores my attempts to get her to remain with me...get mean looks from lady thinking i'm a terrible mother...starting to believe her...have another talk with miss starr...get a dirty look from her...about to cry...buy baby shower gift...head to check-out

12:58: decide it's time to head home

My silver lining:
It is now quiet time. Aaaaahhh...

How is it that I miss them so much now and can't wait to cuddle and kiss them when they wake up again? It's amazing what a few minutes of peace can do for you!

Oh Erica, I am so sorry your morning was rough. And then you weren't able to even give your gift at the shower! I made sure Tina knew who it was from and she loved the outfit and washcloths. She loves giraffes and thought the outfit was perfect. Way to weather the incessant trials of motherhood!
