Kansas Visit, October 2013

In October we packed up the minivan and started on the 18-hour drive to Kansas to visit our family! We drove most of the way on the first day and stopped in Goodland to sleep. The kids had a great time swimming with Daddy while I got some one-on-one time with my Henry-boo. I gave him a bath, cuddled him, fed him, and let him crawl around wherever he wanted! He loved it.

We started off the next day and arrived at Grammy and Papa's house that afternoon. We soon changed into our Halloween costumes (Wizard of Oz!) and went to their ward party. They were such great sports to get dressed up too! My dad was supposed to be the Wizard, but I'm not too sure about the red hair dye. :)

The kids got to party with their cousins and aunts and uncles too!

Luke loves to bust a move when he's feeling his groove...

Madelyn, Evan, Gigi, and Jonathan, and I went to the zoo one day. It's such a fun little place with lots of animals and pretty landscapes. Daddy showed the kids the baseball field where he used to pitch at his baseball games. It was fun for them to see!

Another day we had a Girls Day in Kansas City. We went out to lunch and then Madelyn got to choose her very own American Girl doll. After some deliberation, she chose Caroline. We have enjoyed reading her story and planning our next trip with Caroline to the store.

Whenever we go back to Kansas, Jonathan and I usually drive by our old childhood homes and show the kids where we grew up. Each time they seem to be a little more interested and ask a few more questions. There's something so fulfilling about telling them stories about our formative years and the memories we have in those homes.

On the other days, we visited more family and mostly relaxed and enjoyed hanging out with some of our very favorite people.
