Our ward was split for the fourth time yesterday since we've moved here. (Every time we have split before my parents have been visiting, except yesterday. We missed you guys! :)) It just shows how much this community is growing, growing, growing. We are still in the "growing" ward, but there is an end in sight! The next split will lock our boundaries so that we should have a normal size congregation. And it only took 5 splits! :)
At first I just absolutely hated having such a big ward after moving from Kansas and feeling so close to everyone. But after a couple splits I noticed some great benefits to all of these changes.
- We know everyone in our stake. Well, not everyone, but I don't think I knew half the people in our stake in Topeka, and it was much smaller. With such a large ward here we are able to serve with several different people and form great friendships that we might not have made otherwise, and that last long after the ward splits.
- It is interesting being a part of a growing ward. It seems crazy at times, but whenever a split occurs there is order. A bishop is put into place and sustained sometimes within one day, clear-cut boundaries are somehow found and distinguished, and callings are quickly put back into place. It's amazing to see and is always a testament to me that the Lord is in charge and that things are being done in His way and in His timing.

So which street is the dividing line? Do you have the same bishop? Oh my--too bad we missed it! Is Cory still in your ward? Has she had her baby?
