Every first Saturday in December our family attends our community’s Sounds of the Season Christmas concert and it always gets us in the Christmas spirit. We started going about 5 years ago when Jonathan played the violin in the orchestra and this year was probably the best yet. Jonathan’s brother now plays violin in it and is the concertmaster. What a beautiful production with so many wonderful songs!
And to make this year even more special, our best friends, the Beahms, came to join us! Corey is helping us create some beautiful cabinets and storage in our basement and they have come to stay. So fun!
After the concert we loaded up the kids and went to the local farm to pick out our Christmas tree. The kids played in a silo filled with corn kernels, ate buttery popcorn, and drank all the free apple cider they could get. Jane enjoyed talking to the goats - she would hold their faces with both of her hands and talk to them as if they were the cutest, sweetest creatures she’d ever laid her eyes on. She even was coaxing two goats not getting along to “Be nice!” By the end she wanted to climb the fence and live with them. Ha!
We picked out a beautiful Nordic fir and it already looks so nice sitting big and tall in our front room. This might be our last year purchasing a REAL tree so we are enjoying every minute of that fresh pine smell. I grabbed as many leftover pine branches as I could to decorate all over the house. The Christmas season is here!!!
